Beckett
"Ever tried. Ever failed. No matter. Try again. Fail again. Fail better."
Samuel Beckett
Worstward Ho (1983) is the name of Beckett's work I adapted for the "DAY and NIGHT" play on the site of the "Betonzeitschiene", the concrete slab museum I built on Inner city wasteland in Dresden (2006). I used the factory made concrete bathroom Cube made by the socialists for their prefabricated concrete housing system as the birthplace for the solo performer, a russian dancer Alexei Merkuschev. There was a Midday performance with the Sun at it highest point and a Midnight performance with Fire and Water. Merkuschev, who had previously worked with the famous Devero dance theater, worked with me on the choreography. During the performances I interacted with Mirrors directing the sunlight and with fire during the night performance.
